Job overview

An exiting opportunity has become available to join our team in Child Health in our Basingstoke admin offices.

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, organised individual with a flexible 'can do' attitude. Previous medial secretarial support experience will be an asset.

Main duties of the job

By joining our team you will contribute to the provision of an effective secretarial service. Your role will include providing secretarial support to the team as well as communicating with external healthcare services. This will include clinic letter support and general correspondence and dealing with telephone enquires.

You must be a team player, have excellent communication and organisational skills and be proficient in word processing. We strive for excellence in supporting patients at our Trust and in producing, transferring and maintaining patient information. The ability to use your initiative whilst thinking on your feet will be key.

Education & Skills

Essential criteria

1. Experience of working in an office environment
2. Good standard of Education including Englise Language at GCSE Level A-C or equivalent

Desirable criteria

3. Customer care training or similar experience.
4. Experience of data collection.
5. Voice Recognition system experience.
6. Audio typing at RSA III or equivalent experience.

7. Experience of working with IT systems, e.g. word/excel/Access
8. Experience of working in a busy environment with conflicting demands
9. Experience of establishing efficient office systems and processes.
10. Experience of organising own work.

Desirable criteria

11. Experience of working in an NHS environment or public sector.
12. Knowledge of medical terminology.
13. Experience of working in similar role

Essential criteria

24. Good verbal and written communication skills, including excellent telephone manner.
25. Problem solving skills.
26. Experience of using a variety of computer systems, including data entry and word processing.
27. Excellent interpersonal skills, allowing effective communication between all internal and external customers.
28. Ability to work to tight deadlines and stay calm under pressure.
