As Phlebotomy Manager, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Anticoagulant and Phlebotomy Service Manager in delivering high-quality phlebotomy services across both hospital sites. Operating seven days a week, our service spans inpatient, outpatient, and outreach settings, ensuring the timely and accurate collection of vital blood samples that underpin patient diagnosis and treatment.

Main duties of the job
The main duties of the roll include the day-to-day management of the phlebotomy teams to ensure that standardized best practises are delivered at all locations across the trust.
Experience in all phlebotomy techniques is essential along with supervisory / managerial experience and enjoy taking a proactive approach to problem solving.
The successful applicant must enjoy working with people and possess good communication skills, IT skills are essential.

The post holder will be expected to manage the operations of the phlebotomy service at both sites of the Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and associated community sites, supported by the phlebotomy supervisors, to ensure that standardised best practices are established and delivered across all sites covered by the service.
The post holder will utilise their knowledge and experience to take responsibility for the provision of the phlebotomy service including planning, supervising and scheduling phlebotomy staff. They will be expected to liaise with other health care professionals and managers throughout the trust as required.
The post holder will be expected to collect the data from all of the phlebotomy services on a monthly basis and share the information as necessary.
The post holder will be expected to be able to access all sites.

Experience
Essential criteria
1. Good standard of education or equivalent experience•Minimum of two years’ experience as a Phlebotomy Supervisor
2. Experience of all areas of phlebotomy including paediatrics and Gtt’s.
3. Experience of staff management
4. Inphase reporting
Desirable criteria
5. Experience of annual leave calculation, off duties and sickness reports.
6. Occupational health referrals
Knowledge
Essential criteria
7. Demonstrate sound knowledge of current theory and practice in phlebotomy techniques
8. Knowledge of NHS and BHFT values
