Support Worker
Reporting to: Team Leader

Main purpose of role:
Responsible for providing hands on support and care for adults with profound multiple learning disabilities in a Day Centre setting. This will include all aspects of personal care, eating and drinking and activities whilst maintaining a safe and professional environment which is stimulating and fun.
Previous experience would be an advantage, but the Myriad Centre will provide full training, including completion of the Care Certificate, for the right candidate entering the profession for the first time.
Specific responsibilities
· To support a defined number of individuals on a daily basis with a variety of activities including support in the community and leisure interests.
· To support individuals with lunch, snacks and drinks in a comfortable and safe manner being mindful of dignity and the right to independent choice. This must be in line with the individuals eating and drinking guidelines.
· Ensuring that each individual is supported in such a way that they are able to take part in activities while being supported according to the physical management plan designed for them.
· Ensuring each individual has a care plan which is kept up to date in terms of the content and the delivery. This will include elements such as eating and drinking, medication and likes and dislikes. Care plans will be the framework for delivering this role safely and effectively and must be constantly read and updated. This activity will be overseen by the Client Care Manager and Team Leader.
· Ensuring that the personal care needs of each individual are addressed in a safe, dignified and comfortable manner.
· Ensuring that all records are kept up to date and checked for information at the beginning of each session.
· Ensure that the environment they are working in is kept tidy, clean and free from risk as is reasonably practical throughout the day.
· To undertake all mandatory training within a specific time frame with annual updates. To enhance practice as determined by their staff development plans.
Other duties:
· To maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job; encourage and support colleagues in their development and training.
· To undertake other such duties as may be reasonably required and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this job.
· To undertake the duties and responsibilities associated with the post and in accordance with Myriad policy.
· To behave in a professional manner at all times and to maintain a positive image of the centre.
