Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Senior Assistant Technical Officer to join both the Pharmacy Production team in the Cytotoxic Chemotherapy production Department (Cytolab) and Clinical Trials team at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH).
You will be joining a team of hardworking and dedicated pharmacy and research professionals who compound cancer treatments for NUH patients.
As part of the role you will be required to complete the Pharmacy Support Staff qualification, unless you already have this qualification. Until the qualification is gained the applicant will be a Band 2 and will move to Band 3 upon qualification.
The Pharmacy Production department at NUH has four manufacturing areas. The Cytotoxic Chemotherapy production department (CytoLab) is based at City campus, Sterile Production Unit (SPU), Non-Sterile Manufacturing Unit (NSM) and Pharmacy Packing Unit (PPU) are based at the MHRA licensed facility at the Queens Medical Centre (QMC) campus.
The post holder will be primarily based at the Cytotoxic Chemotherapy Production Unit (Cytolab) and the Pharmacy Clinical Trials Unit.
Both departments are based at the City Hospital campus but the post holder may be asked to provide support cross site as per the needs of the service.
Main duties of the job
You will receive full training from our dedicated and experienced pharmacy production and clinical trials teams. Once trained, you will be required to prepare, assemble and manufacture chemotherapy treatments for cancer patients at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. You will also be required to deliver cancer treatments to NUH wards and departments and the City Campus and support the department in ordering and managing stock.
The post holder will also be required to support the Clinical Trials team with all aspects of clinical trials and pharmacy stock management, completion and maintenance of clinical trials documentation, ordering and archiving.

The post holder will undertake all technical duties in the Chemotherapy Production Unit, participating in the provision of all aseptic services, in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and MHRA guidance, to ensure a high-quality, safe, timely and consistent service and contributing to the overall operation of the department.
The post holder will also provide support to the Clinical Trials team with stock management and essential accurate and timely recording of clinical trials data.
