This job is a unique position for a medical post within our NHS inpatient drug and alcohol detoxification unit New Beginnings.
We are looking for a Trust Grade Doctor wanting to develop a wide range of skills and experience within Addiction Psychiatry. This post is a rare opportunity to work within an inpatient setting.
This full-time post includes 2 sessions of Supporting Programmed Activities (SPAs), enabling the post holder to pursue CPD, service development, management, teaching, or research interests.
The post holder is supported by a full‑time Addiction Psychiatrist.
Required Skills
* The ability to complete comprehensive medical assessments including physical examination.
* Prescribe a variety of medications related to physical or mental health conditions, the detoxification and for any medical emergencies that arise.
* Formulate and review detoxification plans according to the patient’s progress.
* Be able to respond to manage medical and mental health emergencies related to the detoxification or existing health problems.
* Input into twice daily MDT meetings.
* Work well within the multidisciplinary team.
