Waking Night Residential Care Worker – Unlocking Potential, Inspiring Progress

As a Residential Care Worker, you will work in a small, nurturing EBD Residential Children's Home, providing care and support to Children aged 11 to 17 years. You will be an integral part of creating a safe and homely environment where our residents can thrive. By fostering positive relationships and utilising your proactive approach, you will contribute to the well-being and growth of each individual in our care.

Responsibilities

* Read and implement working policies and procedures of the Home and take advice and guidance provided by the management team.
* To provide primary basic are and nurturing to help the children in the Home progress.
* Maintain clear and consistent boundaries in order to create a safe and secure environment within the Home.
* Be a positive role model.
* Being punctual, dress appropriate and act in a professional and supportive manner at all times.
* Work in conjunction with the rota to carry out sleeping shifts, be flexible in order to cover sickness and holidays.
* To demonstrate professional and calm behaviour across a variety of situations.
* To know and understand Risk Assessments, Behaviour Plans and apply these to day-to-day work.
* Ensure that all concerns are communicated to your supervisor with regards to the children's physical or emotional needs and be alert to signs of distress or abuse, and to ensure that they are monitored and protected.
* To provide for the children's physical needs as necessary, for example, by cooking, washing, ironing, shopping, budgeting, or by enabling them to carry out such tasks for themselves.
* Adopt a child centred approach and ensure the needs of the children are met.
* Engage, communicate, and listen to the children and record any significant features of their behaviour.

Knowledge and willingness to learn:

* An understanding of attachment theory, child development and impact of trauma.
* An understanding of psychological theories and basic human needs e.g. Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, Motivational theories etc.
* Knowledge and ability to implement the Children's Homes Regulations 2015
* The impact of residential settings on children and young people e.g. placement breakdown, absconding, self-harming behaviours etc.

Understand how to safeguard and protect children in a residential setting e.g. allegations, sexual abuse, child exploitation and criminal exploitation.

– Year 4 (12 months): £ extra annual leave day (8 hours)

– Year 5: £600

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £13.31-£13.59 per hour

Expected hours: 36 per week
