Job Summary

Applications are invited for a Locum Consultant Radiologist with a subspecialty interest in Breast Radiology. The role is open to consultants with other specialist interests as well.

Main Duties

Symptomatic and screening work; support the breast multi‑disciplinary team (MDT); multimodality breast reporting (mammograms, MRI/CT); Breast Assisted Core Biopsy (RABC). Candidates should be able to perform interventional procedures such as Magseed localisation, stereotactic/vacuum biopsies, ultrasound‑guided core biopsies and cyst drainages. The post holder will contribute to and support these services and attend the MDTs. Screening work will be done at Breast Test Wales and includes MDT and RABC. The post holder will also have responsibility for teaching, quality assurance, and service management within their specialist areas and will contribute to the wider workload of the department, including general radiology, on‑call rotas, teaching of radiology trainees, undergraduate students, and other hospital staff.

Qualifications – Essential

Full GMC Registration FRCR or Equivalent

Qualifications – Desirable

On the GMC Specialist Register in Radiology

Experience – Essential

Experience in cross‑sectional imaging

Experience – Desirable

Broad experience in general radiology Experience in Breast, GI and Oncology

Skills and Ability – Essential

Commitment to team approach and multi‑disciplinary working Evidence of ability to work both in a team and alone Counselling and communication skills Ability to work on call

Skills and Ability – Desirable

Computing skills

Management and Clinical Governance – Essential

Commitment to participating in and understanding of the management process Understanding of the strategic and operational issues underpinning Clinical Governance, their application in daily practice and how this can be evidenced Understanding of NHS management processes Willingness to attend and actively participate in departmental management meetings

Audit and Research – Essential

Evidence of participation in clinical audit and understanding role of audit in improving medical practice. Teaching and Training – Essential

Ongoing interest in postgraduate and undergraduate teaching Evidence of commitment to life long learning and CPD
