On opportunity has arisen to recruit a Healthcare Support Worker, to support the Chemotherapy Unit at DCH. The post holder will work closely with the nursing team and doctors in the day-to-day provision of patient care with support from the chemotherapy nurses and clinical nurse specialists. This will require the post holder to have good communication, interpersonal and practical competency skills. The chemotherapy unit cares for patients with cancer and haematological malignancy in an outpatient setting.
Main duties of the job
To assist and support the registered nurses/doctors in:
· Providing high standards of patient centred care.
· To contribute to the cleanliness and tidiness and safety of the clinical environment.
· To assist with administrative duties within the department, including covering reception duties in the absence of the receptionist

Education, Qualifications & Training
Essential criteria
* Basic knowledge of numeracy & literacy
Desirable criteria
* NVQ Level 2 in Care (or willingness to undertake this)
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
* Understanding of a Nursing Assistants role
Desirable criteria
* Recent experience of working in an acute Health Care setting
Skills & Abilities
Essential criteria
* Knowledge and skills in hospital computer systems including PAS and ICE systems or willingness to learn.
* Demonstrates an understanding of confidentiality

* Evidence of good communication skills
* Evidence of ability to maintain accurate and legible documentation
