What will I be doing?
The team provides Materials & Process expertise across various subjects, supporting a wide range of internal customers. The Gloucester Laboratory team works closely with other Materials & Processes Laboratories within Safran Landing Systems worldwide.
This role primarily involves monitoring the supply chain for landing gear parts. There will also be opportunities to engage in hands-on forensic investigations of landing gear components.
What do I need to succeed in the role?
* A degree (or higher) in metallurgy or materials engineering/science
* Experience working in a materials laboratory environment, preferably in aerospace
* Extensive knowledge of metallurgy, especially steels, titanium, and aluminium alloys
* Experience in supply chain monitoring related to forging and melting of metals
* Data processing software skills
* Ability to interpret and write specifications for materials and processes
* Hands-on experience with metallographic preparation, microscopy, and materials testing
* Skill in writing and approving technical reports and documentation
* Effective communication skills for technical information exchange with internal teams and suppliers
* Strong leadership abilities
* A broad understanding of fabrication processes
