We are seeking an outstanding individual to serve as the Training Programme Director for Gastroenterology at KSS, a 1‑session (4 hours per week) position.
Role Overview
The Training Programme Director works closely with the Head of School to lead the delivery of a wide range of functions aligned with the NHS England mandate. Reporting professionally and managerially to the Head of School, the Director focuses on improving learner supervision, assessment, experience, faculty engagement, and overall educational outcomes. The role is evolving to include whole workforce transformation and the development of multi‑professional links.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee the Gastroenterology Regional Training Programme.
* Handle specialty‑specific matters and trainee/trainer concerns.
* Recruit training posts and programmes.
* Manage postgraduate programme activities, including assessments, progression, rotations, support and remediation, out‑of‑programme (OOP) management, trainee career support, less‑than‑full‑time training, inter‑deanery transfer, academic training and other related work streams.
Qualifications and Experience
Ideal candidates are experienced NHS Consultants with a thorough understanding of Gastroenterology training across the region. Strong leadership and communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a multi‑professional team are essential.
Employment and Transfer Policy
Applicants currently working within the NHS who are successful at interview will be offered an Inter‑Authority Transfer (IAT) via the Electronic Staff Record (ESR). Office‑based colleagues are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in our offices.
