The role:
The key areas of this role will be to maintain and build the organisation’s reputation as a Responsible Business, and this will be achieved by identifying, implementing and capturing activities which align with their Responsible Business strategy. The role sits within the communications team and you will work closely with both Marketing and Communications Directors as well as senior stakeholders across the whole business.
Having worked with an external partner to build their Responsible Business report, it will be your role to establish objectives and milestones of key areas identified within the report, and you’ll manage the relationships with those external partners, always looking for opportunities to learn from, implement and promote activities which move the journey forward. Additionally, you will work with the carbon accounting and net zero partner to continue measuring their carbon footprint and implement a carbon reduction plan – you’ll also work with the sustainability taskforce to achieve their Net Zero aim, as well as collaborating with partners, clients and industry bodies to promote sustainability.
You will provide content and impact data for tenders and proposals where social value or community engagement is an important benchmark, and you will draft articles for the intranet and weekly newsletter around responsible business, community and ESG initiatives.
You will manage the charity fundraising budget and will work with external charity partners to deliver plans, and you’ll identify and signpost volunteering opportunities for colleagues, encouraging employee engagement. You’ll also be the voice of ESG across the business and will be vital to enable cultural change by building knowledge, understanding and role modelling.
What we’re looking for:
To be considered for this role it is essential that you have some experience of sustainability – this doesn’t have to be at a really senior level as the business is on a journey which you will be part of. More generalist ESG experience is also useful, and you’ll also have had experience within charitable fundraising. You’ll be a great communicator with experience and an interest in working with senior level stakeholders, but also ensuring your policies will resonate with colleagues at all levels of the business. Sector experience isn’t necessarily a key focus, but having worked within a large organisation will be beneficial.
You will be experienced in collecting, analysing and reporting on ESG data and creating company wide reports. Any experience of leading cross-functional projects (HR, marketing etc.) would also be useful.
What’s on Offer?
The business has grown rapidly and is a real success story, but their strong values across Diversity, inclusion and Well-being are not just lip-service, they are intrinsic to everything they work towards as a business. Their belief in Responsible Business is just as strong and is an area where they will be focussing on over the coming years and this role will have evolution because of this.
A hybrid role, you’ll need to be in the office for 2 days per week. Salary for the role will be around the £45K mark, but there are significant additional benefits on offer with the organisation, both financial and personal.
