Job Description
3. Supervise and mentor junior team members, providing technical guidance and supporting their development
4. Manage a portfolio of clients, serving as their primary point of contact
5. Review and finalise financial statements, tax returns, and management accounts prepared by junior staff
6. Identify and resolve complex accounting issues and discrepancies
7. Monitor team workload and delegate tasks appropriately to meet deadlines
8. Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to team members
9. Prepare high-quality financial statements and accounts for more complex clients
10. Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies
11. Liaise with clients to gather information and discuss financial matters
12. Implement quality control procedures to maintain high standards of work
13. Participate in client meetings and present financial information
14. Contribute to practice development initiatives and process improvements
15. Report to managers/partners on team performance and client matters
16. Assist with training programs for junior accountants and apprentices
17. Stay current with changes in accounting standards and tax legislation
The Successful Applicant
18. Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA), or AAT with over 10 years practice experience
19. Proven experience supervising or mentoring junior staff members
20. Strong technical knowledge of UK accounting standards and tax legislation (must have UK practice experience)
21. Excellent client relationship management skills with confidence in client-facing situations
22. Experience managing multiple deadlines and prioritising effectively
23. Proficient with accounting software (Desirable - Xero, Tax calc)
24. Demonstrated ability to review financial statements and identify errors
25. Experience handling more complex accounting scenarios and business structures
26. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
27. Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
28. Proactive approach to team development and continuous improvement
29. Ability to work independently while supporting a team structure
30. Strong organisational and time management skills
31. Commercial awareness and understanding of client's business needs
What's on Offer
Starting salary of at least £45,000-£55,000 (DOE)25 days annual leave with extra day off for your birthday (excluding bank holidays)
