The Head of Finance is responsible for the day to day running of the finance department including the month-end close, managing and developing the finance team, driving key systems and financial process improvements. The role will also be the central liaison with the Group FC, providing them with financials, data and insight. We are looking for someone with direct line management experience who has touched on finance transformation and system development.
The role will take overall accountability and responsibility for accurate and timely Financial Reporting, including P&L, Balance sheet and Cash Flow using SAGE. The role is required to generate a high level of credibility and build strong working relationships with stakeholders across operations, commercial and group. An eye for detail and accuracy are also critical for this role.
What you will be doing
Reporting to the Board and working closely with Head of Tech, you will be responsible for everything Finance via the management of the finance function and team. You will own the full array of financial performance and reporting. Key responsibilities include:
1. Management of the finance function: Oversee all day-to-day finance processes including bank and cash flow management, HR, payroll and accounts payable, banking approvals, financial controls, balance sheet reconciliations and liaising with the Group.
2. Internal Reporting: Timely and accurate financial reporting and analysis, including compilation of financial statements, monthly reporting/presentations.
3. Financial Controls: Lead and manage all local financial and controlling processes ensuring the business adheres to the delegated levels of authority.
4. External financial reporting: All legal, statutory and group requirements for reporting and control including HMRC/Companies House.
5. Team leadership: Manage, develop, coach and motivate a team of 3 financial analysts and part qualified accountants.
6. Strategic and operational projects: leading and supporting across various projects, unit economics and cost apportionment, while continuously looking to optimise and improve our financial and wider business processes and controls.
7. Audit: Liaise with our Big 4 auditors, answering all their questions and providing all information requested.
Who we’re looking for
8. Proven experience: worked as an FD / Head of Finance, including people management, liaising with senior leaders, core technical accounting, and commercially focused business decision.
9. Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with 3+ years PQE.
10. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail: Proficient with Excel, BI tools (preferably Microsoft Power BI) and SAGE and would be able to use your skills to create modelling and finance analysis.
11. Proactivity, pragmatic and great communication skills: you’re a self-starter who can communicate financial concepts simply and clearly to non-financial audiences, balancing high standards with a pragmatic approach to make progress in the most efficient way.
12. Relationship building and a collaborative approach: you have the ability to build relationships with a range of different people, building trust easily and re-enforcing finance as an enabler of strategic decision making across different teams.
