The Design and Technical teams are involved in all aspects of housing design and innovation. This team is responsible for researching the best materials at the best cost.
In terms of design, there’s a variety of sites, many using existing buildings, each with unique challenges. The team also explores new materials and sustainability initiatives, all while navigating changing building and environmental legislation.
Most team members have backgrounds in architecture or engineering. We offer opportunities to gain expertise in design and project management in a stimulating environment.
Reporting to the Technical or Design Manager, the role supports the design process and reports on all planning and architectural aspects from land acquisition to site completion.
You will be expected to:
* Provide a practical, cost-effective design service to the company
* Liaise with external designers to ensure best practices, control costs, and maximize revenue and profit contribution
* Be responsible for producing technical design solutions within budget
* Support site evaluation, planning, and technical problem-solving with cost-effective solutions
* Ensure adherence to Technical Department procedures, providing layouts, reports, and drawings within deadlines
* Coordinate with Land, Development, Estimating, Construction, and Sales departments, providing technical information as needed
* Liaise with regulatory bodies such as NHBC and planning authorities to meet standards and conditions
* Negotiate and secure planning consents on schedule
* Follow health, safety, and environmental policies and promote compliance within the team
* Implement new ideas to improve contributions and enhance the company's reputation
To succeed, we seek:

* Experience within established development methodologies
* Ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment
* Relevant experience as a Planner, Architectural Technician, or Design Engineer
* Knowledge of technical functions impacting site acquisition and development
* Qualifications such as HNC in Engineering, Architectural Technician, Planner, RICS or RIBA accreditation, or NVQ Level 5
