Health Care Assistant in General Practice
Health Care Assistant - NORTHGATE SURGERY, PONTEFRACT
WORK PATTERN: 37.5 hours per week
MONDAY - FRIDAY BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 7AM-6PM
We are looking for an experienced Health Care Assistant to join our team. This is a busy Practice and you will be very involved in patient care.
The role is for 37.5 hours a week. However, flexibility is essential as you will also be expected to cover for holidays and sickness. Pay rate is competitive and you will receive 6 weeks holiday plus bank holiday (pro rata). Previous experience as a Health Care Assistant in General Practice or another busy clinical environment is essential.
Main duties of the job
Duties and Responsibilities
1. To undertake all duties in line with the training and instruction provided by the Nurses, Nurse Practitioner and General Practitioners.
2. Assistance at clinics (including minor operation clinics), ensuring patient care by chaperoning and assisting patients to dress and undress.
3. Conduct weight and height measurements, test and record blood pressure and blood sugar levels.
4. Venepuncture and the taking and preparing of pathology samples.
5. Undertake ECG, ear syringing and spirometry testing and dressings if trained to do so.
6. Assist with the provision of health checks for target groups.
7. Collection of clinical waste, ensuring appropriate storage prior to disposal.
8. Ongoing cleaning and sterilisation of clinical equipment and working surfaces, preparing treatment rooms prior to use.
9. Ensure adequate infection control procedures in treatment/consulting rooms.
10. Use of the Practice clinical system for patient searches for clinics and patient recall.
Administration
1. Checking and recording medical supplies on receipt.
2. Inputting information onto the Practice clinical system.
3. Use of Practice clinical system for patient searches for clinics and patient recall.
General
1. Ensure adequate stock levels in stock room, treatment rooms, fridges and cupboards.
2. Any other reasonable duties which may be requested from time-to-time.

* Good standard of general Education
* Experience of working as a Healthcare Assistant in General Practice
* IT Skills

* GCSE Mathematics C or above
* GCSE English C or above
* Experience of S1 clinical system
