Overall Purpose of the Role
As a Commercial Analyst within our commercial team, you will play a key role in driving operational and commercial insight and performance across our multi utility delivery. This is a high-impact role suited to someone with a keen eye for detail, strong data handling skills, and a desire to understand the commercial dynamics that underpin our business.You will provide analytical support and strategic insight to optimise planning, procurement, and delivery processes. Working closely with quantity surveyors, project managers and the wider business, you will analyse performance data, produce KPI reports, and support financial tracking on business areas such as WIP, invoicing and profitability. This is an excellent opportunity to leverage data and optimise processes to generate meaningful insights that directly influence business decisions, turning analysis into action and delivering real value across the business.What you will be doing:
* Analyse and report on data to support decision-making across various departments including finance, procurement, commercial and operations.
* Support the commercial function by streamlining key processes across critical areas such as project CVRs (Cost Value Reconciliations) and Work in Progress (WIP)
* Produce accurate and timely KPI dashboards and reporting packs to track progress against commercial targets
* Play a key role in supporting senior management by overseeing critical controls and processes across ongoing projects, ensuring robust commercial governance
* Track and manage asset value data, ensuring all internal records are accurate and up to date for all live projects.
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support pricing strategies, budget control, and cost analysis of ongoing developments
* Support the team through a new system implementation by assisting with data migration, designing new processes, and helping define and align system expectations to ensure a smooth and effective transition
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the department, driving commercial awareness and operational efficiency
What we ask from you
* Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel, knowledge of Power BI or other reporting tools is a plus
* Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload in a fast-paced environment
* High level of attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when handling technical or commercial data
* Clear communicator with the ability to present insights in a professional and accessible way
* A proactive and inquisitive mindset, with a willingness to learn and contribute to wider business performance
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required
* Desired but not essential: experience in a commercially focused or data-driven role, ideally within utilities, construction, or infrastructure
