My client, a leading professional services firm based near Chester, are recruiting for two leadership positions in their Group Finance function, at FM and FC level.

You will be responsible for managing a talented team of qualified reporting accountants, driving the delivery of management and financial accounting, statutory reporting, analysis, internal controls, tax, and treasury functions. You will also be involved in supporting M&A activity, commercial finance support and other ad hoc analysis.

What youll do
* Oversee the production of monthly management and financial accounts packs, including detailed analysis and commentary on all areas of profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow.
* Manage the control and reporting of capital expenditure spend while ensuring robust processes, procedures, and controls are consistently applied throughout the finance function.
* Lead a team of qualified accountants.
* Lead the preparation of Group consolidated and individual statutory accounts, drafting associated press releases, presentation materials, annual reports, and audit committee papers.
* Act as the primary contact for external auditors during half-year and year-end planning cycles to ensure deliverables are met accurately and on time.
* Review changes in accounting regulations and prepare technical papers to propose and support appropriate accounting treatments within the organisation.
* Maintain and develop detailed cash flow forecasting processes aligned with quarterly re-forecasting activities, ensuring effective management of cash balances.
* Monitor loan drawdowns/repayments as well as bank covenants, providing timely recommendations for mitigating actions where necessary.
* Prepare, review, and deliver corporate tax calculations for statutory reporting purposes while overseeing all returns and payments related to corporate tax and VAT.
* Support budgeting and forecasting activities by collaborating closely with Opex & Headcount Managers and Commercial Finance teams to produce annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
What you bring
* Accounting qualification (ACA or ACCA)
* Demonstrated expertise in accounting standards such as IFRS, UK GAAP as well as strong technical knowledge in Corporation Tax, VAT, PAYE.
* Proven experience managing year-end group reporting processes from Audit Committee paper production through delivery of Annual Reports.
* Exceptional analytical skills enabling you to interpret complex data or technical accounting issues clearly for both finance professionals and non-finance stakeholders.
* Ability to build close working relationships with management teams by understanding their requirements, gaining trust through honest communication, and influencing outcomes collaboratively.
* Comprehensive understanding of business models within large organisations including how developments may impact accounting or tax perspectives.
* Commitment to fostering a culture of constant process improvement through coaching/development initiatives that encourage self-checking among team members.
* Experience motivating teams by providing constructive feedback while maintaining morale through empathetic leadership practices.
* Track record of handling problems with creativity while focusing on results-oriented solutions that achieve personal work objectives efficiently.
* Excellent organisational skills allowing you to plan ahead systematically under pressure from multiple stakeholders.
