Mid-Level Software Engineer - SportsTech Platform
Location: Hybrid Belfast
Salary: £35,000-£45,000 + Equity
My client, a rapidly scaling sports-technology company, are expanding their engineering team and hiring a Mid-Level Software Engineer who wants real ownership, modern tech, and the chance to shape a platform used by athletes, coaches, scouts, and performance staff across the UK, US, and further afield.
If you enjoy building features end-to-end, improving systems, and contributing to technical direction, this role offers the perfect mix of autonomy, impact, and progression - all within a genuinely modern engineering culture.

What you'll be doing
* Designing and building new features across web, mobile, and backend services
* Developing clean, scalable APIs and application logic
* Working with cloud-native systems, data sources, and modern dev workflows
* Driving improvements in performance, reliability, and code quality
* Supporting junior engineers and contributing to best practices
* Getting involved in technical discussions, planning, and architecture decisions
What my client is looking for
To be considered, candidates will need one of the following:
Strong active involvement in sport
(e.g. playing, coaching, competing, or ongoing participation in team-based sports)
OR
Excellent academic performance in STEM
(high-achieving university or school results)
And:
* 2-4+ years' experience delivering production features
* Strong experience with a modern JavaScript framework (React / Next.js ideal)
* Exposure to backend development (Node.js, Python, or similar)
* Comfortable working across the full stack
* Enjoys solving problems, shaping systems, and working in a fast-paced environment
* Strong communicator who collaborates well with engineering, product, and design
