Our Health in Justice service line is now expanding into non-Custodial healthcare, a person-centred approach delivered via a solid and consolidated infrastructure aimed to assess individuals’ mental health and neurodiversity requirements, to redirect them to the most appropriate channel. We have an exciting opportunity for a Service Engagement Navigator to join our team in South Yorkshire. As a Service Engagement Navigator, you will be involved in the daily support of people across the Liaison and Diversion Service to encourage engagement and help them navigate through the Criminal Justice System. The role is to support access to the full scope of identified health needs, including substance misuse (alcohol and drugs), mental and physical health, homelessness, learning disabilities, exploitation, safeguarding and social care issues. Location This role will be based in the Barnsley area with some requirements to travel within South Yorkshire. A driving licence is required. Hours 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday. Salary This position is full time, working 37.5 hours per week and you will receive a salary of £28,247 to £32,346 depending on experience Candidates are required to have a Legal right to work in the UK due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks. What you'll be doing As a Service Engagement Navigator, your responsibilities will vary. You will: be part of an extended team working across Liaison & Diversion service liaise with a wide range of services such as the police, probation, courts and legal services as well as both inpatient and community health and social care services involved in the daily support of people in touch with children and adults, including those from hard-to-reach communities to engage and navigate through the Criminal Justice System support access to the full scope of identified health needs, including substance misuse (alcohol and drugs), mental and physical health, homelessness, learning disabilities, exploitation, safeguarding and social care issues provide practical support to individuals, maintaining a programme of support, working with their families, advocating and enabling access to agencies including probation services, community-based organisations, clinics, courts, mental health services and hospitals How will we support you? Qualifications, skills and experience required: Level 3 NVQ/Diploma in Health and/or Social Care or equivalent experience. Experience of working with service users, face to face, with a variety of health needs. Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working Excellent communication skills and ability to gain appropriate level of consent Understanding of clinical governance, health and safety Knowledge of evidence based practice, health promotion, NICE guidelines Proactive problem solving skills Flexible attitude to working arrangements Motivated as an individual and when working in a team Patient centred values and ability to promote service user involvement Our person-centred model is focused on providing meaningful pathways to anyone faced with criminal charges, as well as understanding what triggers and socio-economic circumstances might lead to people offending. We will treat individuals more holistically, focusing on the person and early intervention strategies to reduce risks and improve outcomes.
