You will work closely with Apprenticeships & Scientific Development Tem and Operational Management Team to ensure the effective delivery and reporting of training and development in your department. Key accountabilities will include:
 * Participate in the delivery of the training and development framework including development of training materials and competency compliance.
 * Work with DOSD to identify skills gaps and plan training for all roles in your department to meet the requirements of the Target Operating Model (TOM).
 * Provide relevant training documentation and support the accreditation process for all professional bodies such as, the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS), National School of Healthcare Science (NSHCS), UKAS.
 * Create and deliver training for HCPC registration and further professional specialist training, including participating in Synnovis IBMS Portfolio and Clinical Science equivalence training programmes.
 * Collate information and compile Training reports for the Operational Management Team.
 * Part of collaborative network of ASD Team and Training Leads across Synnoviso.
 * Organise and deliver training to ensure employee compliance for laboratory-based competencies and statutory/mandatory for department.
 * Ensure training records are developed and managed across the Service line.

Purpose of the job
You will support the Operations Managers in the delivery of training and development within their Service Line. Reporting to the Deputy Operations Service Director (DOSD) with a dotted line into the Apprenticeship and Scientific Development (ASD) Team. You will have a high level of responsibility to ensure the successful delivery of training and development including induction, laboratory-based competencies and professional training for scientists in line with our corporate objectives.

 * Represent department at the bi-annual Synnovis Training Committee meeting.
 * Coordinate training for internal and external people as required e.g. L6 BMS apprentices, STP Trainees, Clinical colleagues, student placements, work experience.
 * Ensure training records are developed and managed across the Service line.
Key Responsibilities Participate in Service Line Training meetings to provide departmental information and updates, taking an active role in discussion pertaining to service improvement and developmental changes. Provide compliance data, progress reports and statistics for development in your department to Training Manager, for use in workforce development and succession planning. Provide an annual training delivery plan with consideration of statutory and mandatory training requirements and other routine training needs. Coordinate all training events and provide high level monitoring of performance. Working with your DOSD to support in the strategic development and service improvement of the analytical service. From a training perspective, advise on the implementation of new techniques, equipment, and tests.
 * Maintain open lines of communication with Operational Management team for effective escalation of incidents.
 * Contribute to the Service Line training appendix linked to the organisational training policy to ensure all standards are met and guidelines remain relevant and current.
 * To support the Operations Managers in the delivery of robust change management procedures and processes where changes to the service are planned.
 * Ensure compliance with any relevant accreditation and external governing body frameworks or legislation.
 * Manage and maintain the Competency framework for your department and escalate risk areas when necessary.
 * Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistency and good practice in the delivery of Training, including the development of common policies as appropriate to minimise unnecessary duplication.
 * Support the development of theory and practical based training, organising classroom-based training with trainers and facilitators.
 * Support and deliver the training pathway for HCPC registration for Biomedical and Clinical Scientists including equivalence.
 * Support the apprenticeship pathway and the end point assessment.
 * Participate in appropriate training audits, gap analysis and document review compliance as required.
 * Participate in induction training, including understanding management structures across Synnovis to ensure all onboarding is delivered as required and in a timely manner.
 * Provide mentoring and coaching trainees, students and other employees within your department.
 * Demonstrate professionalism, patience and empathy when explaining highly complex subjects, and in particular when communicating with people who do not share same level of knowledge or understanding.
 * Prioritise your own workload and communicate time pressures to ensure that deadlines are met, and that work is delivered effectively and efficiently and to a high standard.
 * Develop a customer centred service by inviting feedback and acting upon it in the best way possible at the time.
 * Participate in UKAS assessments, and other external inspections as applicable, and ensure plans are in place to meet the standards expected.
 * Record and maintain CPD to ensure continued registration with the HCPC and be aware of changes in regulatory requirements.
 * Comply with all safe practices in any working environment and hold others to the same standards.
Person Specification
Qualifications
 * BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science or Science equivalent
 * MSc Biomedical Science (or related subject) or equivalent
 * Evidence of continuing professional development
 * Learning and Development qualification or willingness to work towards one
 * HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist or Clinical Scientist
 * Specialist portfolio in relevant discipline (if HCPC Registration via IBMS Portfolio route) or FIBMS or equivalent experience or Clinical Scientist
Experience
 * Experience of coaching and co-ordinating others
 * Significant experience of working in a laboratory setting with demonstrable specific practical experience
 * Experience of designing, planning and delivery of training
 * Ability to work autonomously and manage a demanding workload
 * Ability to lead by example and to motivate and supervise others
 * Experience of being an assessor, verifier and/or examiner
 * Quality management systems and processes
