Queen’s University Belfast invites applications for a Research Fellow position in Power Electronics, focusing on the development and design of power converters for electric vehicle (EV) rapid charging and large-scale renewable energy integration. This role is part of a prestigious project funded by Invest NI, with the goal of enhancing the efficiency, reliability, and scalability of power conversion technologies in renewable energy systems.
The successful candidate will join the Energy, Power and Intelligent Control (EPIC) research centre within the School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EEECS). The position offers opportunities to contribute to world-leading research and innovative projects in power electronics and renewable energy conversion, working in close collaboration with academic and industrial partners.
Requirements
– Hold, or be about to obtain, a PhD in Power Electronics, Electronic/Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
– Demonstrated research experience in power electronics, power converter architectures, and control.
– Proven ability to work effectively as part of a research team on relevant projects.
– Exposure to commercialisation, market studies, or intellectual property processes.
– Proficiency in MATLAB Simulink and other modelling tools.
– Programming skills for DSP, PSoC, or FPGA-based control platforms.
