The Opportunity
Abbott Rapid Diagnostics is part of Abbott’s Diagnostics family of businesses, bringing together exceptional teams of experts and industry leading technologies to support diagnostic testing which provides important information for treatment and management of diseases and other conditions.
We are looking for an Occupational Health Advisor (OHA), primarily based at our Castle Donington (East Midlands) medical center.
What You’ll Do
As an OHA, you will deliver a full range of Occupational Health duties including case management, medicals such as Rail industry, Safety Critical, Health Surveillance, Train Drivers, HAVS (advantageous), and Wellbeing services.
More specifically, your responsibilities include:
* Supporting managers and employees at medical centers, customer sites, or remotely with advice on sickness absence, workplace environment, risk assessment, stress management, and return to work.
* Lone working: conducting health surveillance, case management, medical assessments, including Rail and Safety Critical medicals (training provided).
* Advising managers and HR on staff capable of duties and within policy guidelines.
* Supporting risk assessments related to health issues.
* Staying updated on legislation and best practices in Occupational Health.
* Collaborating with head office to increase service utilization and dashboard work.
* Participating in network learning, clinical updates, and delivering presentations on innovations.
Required Qualifications
* Degree, Diploma, or Certificate in Occupational Health, registered with NMC Part 3, with ongoing professional development.
* Qualification in Hand Arm Vibration and experience with drug and alcohol testing protocols (desirable).
* Ability to perform medicals and surveillance, including audiometry, spirometry, skin assessment, HAVS, and safety critical medicals.
* Experience in the Rail industry for Train Driver Medicals, with additional training.
* Capability to conduct assessments face-to-face and remotely.
* Effective collaboration with HR, Safety, and occupational health partners.
* Ability to identify key health issues and develop procedures.
* Willingness to travel between sites; must have business insurance.
* Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office and Excel.
