The firm is a busy commercial real estate team advising investors, occupiers and developers on leases, acquisitions, disposals and development transactions. The firm prides itself on pragmatic legal advice, excellent client service and providing career development for administrators, legal PAs and paralegals who want to grow its commercial property expertise.
The role — why this will suit you
You’ll provide high-quality secretarial and administrative support to fee-earners working on commercial property matters (leases, acquisitions, disposals, development agreements, licences). This is a hands-on role: you’ll prepare and format documents, manage case files, run Land Registry searches, assist with SDLT paperwork, manage fee-earner diaries and be the first point of contact for clients and external agents. If you enjoy a dynamic property caseload and want a role that can lead to Paralegal / Legal PA progression, this is ideal.
Key responsibilities
* Prepare, format and proofread commercial property documents (leases, contracts, completion packs, SDLT returns)
* Run Land Registry and local authority searches; help process search replies and deeds
* Manage fee-earner diaries, meetings and client communications (phone and email)
* Open/close and maintain matter files in the case management system; ensure client/matter records are compliant
* Draft standard correspondence from templates and manage version control on documents
* Support completions: prepare completion files, execute documents and liaise with conveyancers/agents
* Provide ad-hoc paralegal support where appropriate (e.g., basic bundle/plan preparation, attendance notes)
You’ll have
* Previous experience supporting a Commercial Property or Real Estate team (legal secretary, legal PA or conveyancing assistant)
* Strong document drafting and formatting skills (Word—styles, templates, track changes, PDFs)
* Organised, accurate and used to working to deadlines; comfortable with chasing external parties
* Ability to handle confidential information and maintain discretion
* Familiarity with Land Registry processes, SDLT basics and property searches is highly desirable
* Excellent written and verbal communication; pleasant telephone manner
* Experience with case management systems / dictation systems is a plus
What the firm offers
* Competitive salary and clear progression to Legal PA / Paralegal roles
* Training and CPD support (conveyancing systems, Land Registry, SDLT updates)
* Friendly team environment and supportive management
* Easy commute from Reading station
