The Role:
The post holder will work as part of a team to provide a decontamination service to the wards and departments in the acute hospitals and to the GP surgeries/ community clinics in the Southern Trust Area.
Responsibilities
1. Clean, inspect, assemble, pack, seal, label and sterilise reusable medical devices for distribution to Theatres and wards and departments in the acute hospitals and to GP surgeries and community clinics throughout the Southern Trust area.
2. Operate washer disinfectors, sterilisers, heat sealers or any other equipment involved in the decontamination process.
3. Collect contaminated reusable medical devices and deliver sterile reusable medical devices to wards and departments within the acute hospitals
4. Adhere to all policies and procedures within the Sterile Services Department in accordance with BS EN ISO 13485:2016 and Medical Devices Directive 93/42/EEC.
5. Participate in on-going training required for the provision of a decontamination service within the Trust.
6. Responsible for the cleaning of equipment, workbenches / work surfaces within the Sterile Services Department
7. Work in all Sterile Services Departments within the Southern Trust as and when required
8. Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Essential Criteria:
9. A minimum of 3 GCSEs at Grade A-C to include Mathematics and English
10. Previous experience of working within a Sterile Services Department.
11. Ability to meet high standards without constant instruction or supervision
12. Ability to keep up with the pace of work throughout the day
13. Ability to communicate effectively
14. Ability to check and count items accurately and identify faults
15. Ability to tolerate work of a repetitive nature without performance slipping.
16. Willing to change or rotate jobs within the Sterile Services Department as required
