Consultant Psychiatrist – Deal Community (Kent and Medway Mental Health NHS Trust)
Job Summary
We are looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist to lead a collaborative team and provide high‑quality care to the vibrant communities of Deal and its surrounding villages. This community‑based post allows flexible working and collaboration with two other consultants in the South Kent Coast Community Mental Health Teams. Successful applicants will ideally have MRCPsych or equivalent, be on or within six months of inclusion on the Specialist Register, be fully registered with the GMC, and hold Approved Clinician status and S12 approval under the Mental Health Act (or achieve within 3 months of appointment).
Main Duties
* Provide clinical leadership within the South Kent Coastal Community Mental Health Team alongside two other Consultant colleagues.
* Provide medical input to patients under the care of the Community Mental Health Team.
* Strengthen relationships with external agencies, including the local CCG.
* Take a leadership role in screening referrals and assessing new referrals jointly with team members.

Person Specification – Essential
* MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
* Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise.
* On the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of completing CCT in Adult psychiatry.
* Approved Clinician status or able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
* Approved under S12 or able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
* Excellent knowledge of psychiatric specialty, bio‑psycho‑social approach, and wide medical knowledge.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
* Ability to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty.
* Decision making based on evidence and experience with contribution from others.
* Ability to meet duties under MHA and MCA.
* Valid UK driving licence (or evidence of proposed alternative).

* Deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training.
