Job Title: Plant and Equipment Engineer – Submarines

Job Overview
We are looking for Plant and Equipment Engineers (P&E) to join the Rolls‑Royce Submarines Business. The Submarines Business is responsible for the design, manufacture, supply and through‑life support of nuclear propulsion‑related products and systems in support of the Royal Navy’s submarine fleet. We support the Royal Navy as the Technical Authority for all UK Naval Reactor Submarine Plants and are continuing to build our nuclear sector capability to support the development of a new nuclear plant for future submarines.
As a Plant Engineer, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of engineering packages, working across multiple disciplines and lifecycle stages to ensure that the areas under your responsibility meet both engineering and project requirements. You will interact with various stakeholders, internal and external, to achieve the required results.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver engineering projects from requirements capture to operational handover for new plant & equipment, or modifications to existing facilities.
* Lead the development of new plant & equipment and act as the Intelligent Customer for key facility capabilities (e.g., Clean Rooms).
* Create, maintain and validate technical requirements and associated verification & validation activities.
* Work with specialist engineering input to create an integrated engineering solution that meets all project and technical (including safety) requirements.
* Act as an intelligent customer for supplier/partner activities to ensure compliance with design intent, safety requirements, legislation and standards.
* Provide expertise to other engineering packages and support the project management team to ensure schedules, risks, costs and resource requirements are understood and maintained.
* Ensure regulatory and legal requirements are met throughout the project life‑cycle.
Qualifications and Experience
* Formally recognised qualification or equivalent experience in an engineering discipline related to plant & equipment.
* Experience in electrical, controls & instrumentation, civil and structural, fabrication & welding, HVAC, services & utilities, and machine tool maintenance.
* Experience of producing and reviewing health and safety documentation – IOSH or NEBOSH desirable.
* Demonstrated ability to deliver projects successfully and experience across multiple stages within the engineering lifecycle.
* Experience of working with supply chain and contractors is beneficial.
* Security Check clearance (UK or dual) is required for this role.
