Graduate Rail Electrical Engineers - Glasgow (2026 start) – Join AECOM as a Graduate Rail Electrical Engineer in Glasgow for a 2026 start. This role is part of the Graduate Development Programme and offers the opportunity to develop skills within a supportive, collaborative environment.

Job Responsibilities
* Selected candidates will be enrolled on the Graduate Development Programme and develop skills within a supportive environment that encourages challenge and collaborative behaviours.
* Use industry-leading software and BIM modelling programmes while working on various rail-specific areas including:
* Integrating engineering designs from other railway disciplines such as signalling, electrification and permanent way;
* Planning the phasing of construction and commissioning activities to minimise disruption to passengers and the public;
* Ensuring designs maximise sustainability outcomes during construction and for the asset lifecycle;
* Developing designs that are safe to build, operate and maintain, protecting passenger and public safety;
* Producing concept and outline design proposals to address client challenges in maintenance, renewal and enhancement of railways;
* Conducting site inspection, assessment and design of railway electrical infrastructure including signalling power, points heating and level crossing lighting;
* Designing railway stations and contributing to projects that improve or create urban spaces, station buildings, platforms, footbridges and concourses.
Qualifications
* BEng Electrical Engineering with a 2:1 classification (or equivalent) or above
* MBEng/MEng Electrical Engineering would be an advantage
* Rail modules or experience would be an advantage
* Strong technical understanding of Rail/Electrical Engineering
* Demonstrable interest in Rail/Electrical Engineering and developing a career in this industry
* Willing and able to work towards chartership with the IET
* Good Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
* Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external clients, both verbally and in writing; confidence to engage with clients, colleagues, stakeholders and sub-contractors; capability to discuss and rationalise technical issues
* Enthusiastic, hard-working, with ambition and drive
* Ability to structure and prioritise work through team collaboration
* Ability to work in a team and independently without losing initiative
