Job Description:
AFC Wimbledon Women are seeking a dedicated, knowledgeable, and proactive Physiotherapist, Sports Therapist, or Sports Rehabilitator to join their Medical department. This role involves working with elite female footballers at Tier 3 level, supporting injury assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation for the players, including occasional involvement with pathway players.
The successful candidate will work within a Tier 3 women’s football club, providing physiotherapy and rehabilitation services for the first team and supporting the development of pathway players. Flexibility to work various hours, including weekends, midweek sessions, and occasional overnight stays, is essential.
This position offers opportunities for internal CPD, staying current with literature, and enhancing practical skills. Key responsibilities include:
* Providing emergency first aid during training and matches
* Assessing injured players clinically before games
* Maintaining detailed injury and treatment records
* Communicating with coaches, conditioning teams, and players regarding injuries
* Participating in in-house CPD sessions
* Supporting junior therapists within the women’s pathway
* Ensuring compliance with club policies on health, safety, equality, safeguarding, and confidentiality
Qualifications and requirements include:
* BSc degree in Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, or Sports Rehabilitation
* HCPC/BASRaT/SST registration
* In-date EMFAif qualification and commitment to reaccreditation
* Willingness to work with high-level athletes on injury management and rehabilitation
* Medical insurance suitable for treating semi-professional women’s footballers
* Ability to participate in football at a high level
* MSc in Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, or Sports Rehabilitation (preferred)
