Job Description
We are currently looking for a Teaching Assistant (TA) to support a pupil in Primary Schools in Cardiff on a full-time basis.
You will be required to work 8.30am-3.30pm, Monday to Friday. These hours are only essential during term time. You will be there to provide a one-to-one support to pupils that need it and support the teacher in the classroom.
You will work closely with children in KS2 who may have additional learning needs (ALN) such as Autism (ASD) and struggle during in lessons due to their behavioural, emotional, speech and language difficulties. Therefore, you will need to be proactive and use your initiative to support them.
An important part of this role is to build a positive and trusting relationship with the child, who could potentially have low self-esteem. The successful candidate will need to have a calm demeanour and be committed, as well as encouraging.
You will have:
1. Good understanding of English language
2. Experience working with children with Additional Learning Needs (ALN)
3. LSA Level 2 and/or Level 3
4. A proactive attitude
5. Strong literacy and numeracy skills
6. Capability to monitor behavioural needs and support pupils with low self-esteem
You will need:
7. A minimum of 3 months child-based experience
8. Contactable references
9. A Child and Adult DBS – or be willing to undertake one via New Directions
10. A willingness to complete mandatory training when required
