Overview

At Turning Point, we support people with Learning Disabilities across England. As a Support Worker, you will help residents improve daily living skills and gain experience and training to progress with us. This position does not meet the requirements for sponsorship under current UK immigration guidelines.


Where will I be working?

Our Thornton services provide 24-hour facilities supporting 11 adults with Learning Disabilities and additional health issues. We focus on person-centred care, helping residents be as independent as possible through activities, shopping, budgeting and cooking. You will work as part of a large staff team covering various shift patterns including occasional night shifts.

Note: this service supports people with complex learning disabilities and there are high levels of personal care involved.


Responsibilities

* promoting the independence of people we support
* supporting a full range of daily activities including cleaning and cooking, days out or holidays
* arranging activities in the home and local community
* developing residents’ life skills and personal interests
* helping residents stay safe and healthy
* assisting with personal care needs
* manual handling where required
* supporting people with medication including creams and lotions
* ensuring record keeping is maintained to the required standard and contributing to service monitoring


Training and Development

We offer training to develop skills and competencies in care and other areas. Training is offered after probation (6 months). You will have a coach to support your programme.

* Level 2 and 3 Lead Adult Care Worker
* Level 3 Operational Team Leader


Shift Patterns

This is a 24-hour service, so flexibility is essential. Shifts vary from 7:00/8:00 am to 2:30/3:30 pm or 12:00 pm to 7:30 pm, with occasional waking nights and some weekends. Working hours may vary.

Please note: you must be a driver to be considered for this role.


Role Requirements

* Hands-on, with no two days the same
* Ability to promote independence and support daily living activities
* Ability to complete the physical aspects of the role, such as manual handling
* Good communication skills
* Passionate, caring, flexible, patient, and a great team player
