Job overview Support Worker £12.21 per hour As this service runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, flexibility is essential. The successful candidate must be able to work a varied shift pattern including day/evening shifts, waking nights, and long days. You will also work alternate weekends, bank holiday's/ any other holidays. St Anne's Community Services are looking for Mental Health Support Workers to join us at our 24 hour supported living service at Hartwell Road, Belle Vue Road services and Outreach in Leeds. Please be aware that we don't offer sponsorship. At these services we provide care and support for clients who live in a 24 hour supported living service for Mental Health. Some of our clients present challenging behaviour and substance misuse. Advert You will have a caring, confident and well organised personality with the ability to adapt to situations quickly as every day is different. Its desirable that you have some experience of working in a care environment. Proven track record of team work and working in a face paced environment. You must be flexible as you would be required to work a variety of shifts, and also cover at other local services in the absence of other staff. You must be confident in speaking to other professionals and services who work with our clients, as you will be in regular communication with them. Incidents may occur, so you must be able to mange these calmly and report any safeguarding concerns to the local authority/any relevant professionals who are supporting the client. Your primary responsibilities will include: Emotional Support and Mental Health Management: Crisis Intervention: Responding promptly and effectively to crises, such as self-harm incidents and substance misuse, and providing immediate support and safety measures. Coping Skills Development: Teaching and reinforcing effective coping strategies, such as mindfulness, relaxation techniques, and problem-solving skills. Mental Health Promotion: Encouraging healthy mental health practices, including stress management, sleep hygiene, and regular exercise. Practical Support and Life Skills Development: Daily Living Skills: Assisting with daily living tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and personal hygiene to promote independence. Financial Management: Providing guidance and support with budgeting, bill paying, and other financial matters. Healthcare Support: Accompanying clients to medical appointments, administering medication as prescribed, and monitoring health conditions. Social and Community Engagement: Facilitating social interactions, encouraging participation in community activities, and exploring new interests. Person-Centred Care: Individualised Support: Tailoring support plans to meet the unique needs and preferences of each client. Choice and Control: Empowering clients to make informed decisions and exercise control over their lives. Respect and Dignity: Treating clients with respect, empathy, and dignity, fostering a positive and supportive environment. Collaboration: Working collaboratively with clients, their families, and other professionals to achieve shared goals. Record Keeping and Reporting: Accurate Documentation: Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of client interactions, progress, and incidents. Clear and Concise Reporting: Writing clear and concise daily notes that effectively communicate client needs, progress, and any concerns. By providing compassionate and effective support, you will contribute to the well-being and recovery of our clients. As a Support Worker, you will provide high quality care and support to our clients to enable them to live their best life. You will be passionate in making a difference to our client’s lives, helping them to fulfil their aspirations and ambitions. Bringing creativity and a can-do approach, you will personify our values of being Person-Centred, Respectful, Open, Understanding and Dedicated (PROUD). · Ensure that all support and care are provided in a way that protects clients from abuse and exploitation, maintains their dignity, and supports positive risk-taking. · Each one of our clients is different and has different needs and no two days will ever be the same. · Support quality inspection processes, cooperating with on-site inspectors in relation to information requests. · Work always in accordance with Health and Safety requirements, such as Manual Handling, Food Hygiene, Fire Safety, infection control, and Risk Assessment procedures. · Carry out a range of household duties in accordance with the needs of the client including cooking, cleaning, laundry, and other domestic duties as required. · Willing to provide an appropriate level of care and support to clients, in accordance with their care plan. · Understanding of the importance of maintaining accurate written and numerical records · Ability to undertake a wide range of and domestic duties (specific to each service) · Understand or willing to learn how to use computer packages (such as Nourish, Civica, Teams, Word, Outlook and the Internet) and to undertake relevant training and qualification in care if required. · Able to work cooperatively as a team member contributing towards a positive working culture. · Able to liaise and communicate effectively with carers, families, inspectors and other external stakeholders.
