Are you interested in applying to become one of a newly launched team of Band 7s?
As a team you will responsible for clinical practice, encompassing all the DCH theatre departments. Covering 12 operating theatres, including 1 satellite in Weymouth.
If you are an experienced Band 6 practitioner, currently working at DCH, who is interested in developing the next step of your career, working collaboratively with the theatre teams at DCH during a dynamic time of change, this could be your opportunity. The post holders will be able to grow their skills and portfolio of responsibilities under the guidance of the existing band 7 and the Theatre Matron.
The structural chart that follows has examples of the responsibilities listed, these are not exclusive to the roles nor fixed and will be adjusted according to the skills and interests of the successful candidates.
These roles will be fully supported and mentored to develop. They will be allocated to the in house ‘management matters’ training and external managerial training with Bournemouth University.
Main duties of the job
During your protected managerial time (taken in turns), you will be expected to undertake your administrative work, support the co-ordinators with the day to day running of the theatres, in the main, DSU and Weymouth suites. In your role you will become more involved with the day to day and strategic running of the hospital. Attending the site and other meetings, in person or online representing theatres, within DCH and sometimes externally as required. You will be focused on developing practice and high standards of clinical governance in your areas of specialist interests (plus covering for colleagues when required).
You will be expected to work closely with your fellow band 7 team members, during core hours, problem solving between yourselves, reporting and escalating any challenges to the Theatre matron/ lead as appropriate.

Education Qualifications & Training
Essential criteria
* Appropriate Professional Registration with a recognised healthcare body.
* Evidence of CPD.
* Recognised teaching qualification.
* Leadership or management qualification/experience or willingness to work towards.
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
* Knowledge of national initiatives and KPI’s.
* Significant post registration experience with a minimum of 3 years in Operating Theatres environment at Band 6.
* Understanding of professional healthcare issues.
* Demonstrates motivation and commitment to providing high quality patient centred care.
* Experience of resource management including staff and budget management.
* Knowledge of clinical governance, PSIRF methodology and managing complaints.
Skills & Abilities

* Evidence of ability to act as a proficient healthcare practitioner.
* Evidence of ability to maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, patients and visitors.
