Overview
We’re looking for an experienced AWS Solution Architect to join a leading digital consultancy working on large-scale cloud transformation projects across the public sector and defence industries. This is a high‑impact role where you’ll work closely with clients to define cloud adoption strategies, design AWS‑native architectures, and guide complex migration programmes.
You’ll play a key part in shaping the cloud journey for clients that make a tangible impact on the UK’s national security and critical infrastructure.
Location: London, Manchester or Leeds (hybrid and flexible working options available)
Responsibilities
* Lead on technical design and migration enablement projects.
* Define and document AWS architectures (baseline, target, roadmaps, patterns, standards, and reference architectures).
* Work with development teams to ensure common standards and reusable migration patterns.
* Endorse and maintain infrastructure‑as‑code approaches for automated, repeatable deployments.
* Conduct architectural reviews and provide assurance on AWS solutions.
* Act as an escalation point for engineering teams, supporting troubleshooting and incident resolution.
* Drive the adoption of automation and best practices across the platform.
* Support, mentor and coach engineering teams to deliver high‑quality solutions.
Skills & Experience
* Strong experience in AWS architecture and cloud migration, ideally in large, multi‑account environments.
* Expertise in designing and implementing cloud reference architectures and patterns.
* Solid understanding of AWS security services, networking, and DevOps practices.
* Experience with CI/CD pipelines and cloud‑native automation tools.
* Strong communication skills, able to engage with both technical teams and senior stakeholders.
* Knowledge of working in Agile delivery environments.
* Experience mentoring junior engineers and driving collaboration across teams.
