Cash & Banking Finance Analyst
Provide an effective and efficient service within the specific area of the complex Cash & Banking process, liaising with our branch network at all levels, while ensuring the provision of accurate and up-to-date information.
Principal Accountabilities
1. Own the production and distribution of high-volume balance sheet reconciliations and reports within agreed timelines.
2. Maintain effective control and ownership of balance sheet ledger accounts in line with group policies.
3. Identify and resolve erroneous balances with support from the Finance Controller.
4. Accurately reconcile system and bank account balances, understanding the data behind the numbers.
5. Respond to all queries promptly and professionally.
6. Prioritise and process payments totaling approximately £450m per month, including BACS, cheque runs, foreign payments (via system and Bankline), and direct debits.
7. Ensure all payment runs meet schedules, terms, authorization protocols, and compliance requirements.
8. Act as the main contact point for branch banking and customer cash queries.
9. Serve as a business partner for all branches within your remit.
10. Communicate report findings clearly and collaborate with stakeholders to resolve issues.
11. Support internal and external audit requests.
12. Strive to meet and exceed operational targets.
13. Monitor the quality of work delivered by the team.
14. Ensure finance procedures and controls are consistently followed.
15. Demonstrate strong customer focus by owning queries through to resolution.
16. Escalate complex or out-of-scope issues appropriately.
17. Collaborate within the team and support a positive, cooperative work environment.
18. Take initiative to resolve team challenges and build trust across the business.
19. Apply a common-sense approach to problem-solving and identify actionable insights.
20. Investigate issues thoroughly, escalating or resolving as appropriate.
