Job Details
The Kinship Teams purpose and focus is based on the Five Foundations of the Promise: voice, family, care, people and scaffolding. The best interests of our children have been at the heart of childcare practice in Scotland for many years. The United Nation Convention of the Rights of the Child underlines the right of the child to preserve his or hers identity, including family relations without unlawful interference. UNCRC (Scotland) Act 2024. Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014 and the Kinship Assistance Order (Scotland) 2016 provide a framework for a local authority to meet the needs of those who are in receipt of kinship care assistance.
‘Where children are safe in their families and feel loved they must stay. Families must be given the support they need to nurture that love to overcome the difficulties that get in the way’ The Promise (2020). Our aim is to keep children within families.
