Your newpanyA fast-growing and innovative organisation in the technology sector is seeking an experiencedmercial Sole In-House Counsel to join them and lead their legal function. Operating across multiple territories, thispany is known for its dynamic approach to business andmitment to excellence. Based in Gloucestershire, thepany operates a hybrid working model and would look for you to be in the office 2–3 days per week.
Your new roleAs In-House Counsel, you will provide proactive, practical, and business-focused legal support across the organisation, with a strong emphasis onmercial law. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will play a key role in managing legal risk, ensuringpliance, and supporting strategic business initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range ofmercial contracts including supplier, customer, licensing, and distribution agreements.
2. Advising on legal risks related to technology procurement, resale, and service delivery.
3. Leading dispute resolution strategies and managing external counsel when required.
4. Monitoring legal and regulatory developments in the tech sector and advising on risk mitigation.
5. Managing contract templates, playbooks, and legal policies.
6. Delivering training on legal andpliance topics to internal teams.
7. Ensuring data protectionpliance across all operational territories.
What you’ll need to succeedApplications from those looking to work full-time or part-time will be considered and there is also the possibility of working the role around school hours/pick-up and drop-off. To be successful in this role, you will need:
8. Qualification as a Solicitor (England & Wales or Scotland) or Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives.
9. 8 years PQE inmercial law, ideally gained in-house (however experiencedmercial lawyers within private practice will be considered)
10. Proven expertise in drafting and negotiatingplexmercial contracts.
11. Experience with public procurement and tendering processes.
12. Strong knowledge of data protection, intellectual property, and regulatorypliance.
13. Excellentmunication skills and the ability to translateplex legal concepts into practical business advice.
14. High levels of integrity, discretion, and professionalism, with a self-motivated and enthusiastic approach.
