Kitchen on the Corner is a growing family Cafe business based on Faringdon Road in
Swindon. We have an exciting new opportunity for a capable and hardworking Cafe Assistant & Barista to join the team.
As Cafe Assistant, the ideal candidate will be oozing with energy and positivity and have excellent customer service skills and work ethic. Our venue offers award-winning Cakes and
Bakes, all handmade in Swindon and the surrounding areas, a menu with an excellent range
of breakfasts and lunches, as well as freshly roasted small batch coffee.
As General Assistant you will be working in all areas including serving customers, clearing
tables, cleaning and maintaining Cafe, making coffee and cooking in the kitchen to provide
breakfast and lunches and of course, making our customers happy. We are looking for
someone who is professionally barista trained (although not essential), and
committed to providing exceptional customer service. Full training will be provided. Flexibility on shifts is also required.
General responsibilities
* To work in the Front of House and in the kitchen
* Ensure that an exceptionally high standard of customer service is delivered at all times – taking opportunities to go the extra mile to make customers smile
* Ensure a clean and tidy environment at all times
* Cleaning and maintaining Cafe during downtimes
* Deal with and resolve complaints to the satisfaction of the customer and the management team
* Be a pro-active member of the team
* Be willing to learn the kitchen duties so you can also be flexible with the working in the kitchen on certain days.
Experience & skills
* Must have exceptional customer service skills
* A food hygiene certificate would be preferable but not essential
* Be well organised and motivated and have a real passion for customer service
* Must work well under pressure with the ability to multi-task
* Be trustworthy and have a flexible approach to work and a willingness to learn
* Be willing to go that extra mile
Employment details
* Location: Unit 1 Faringdon House, Faringdon Road, Swindon, SN1 5AR
* Hours: Permanent - 4/5 days out of 7. (keyholder position)
* 25-35 hrs a week (various shifts)
* Salary: Min wage
