Rotational Experienced Occupational Therapist
An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Band 6 Occupational Therapy rotations in Carmarthenshire. Carmarthenshire benefits from surrounding countryside and the great outdoors, whilst also being next to the M4.
Our band 6 rotations are 9 months and include:
* front of house,
* community,
* medical/frailty,
* Community Team for Learning Disabilities
Our teams are very supportive and friendly, providing valuable rehabilitation focused on the needs of the individual, supporting an integrated model of care that promotes faster recovery from illness and timely discharge from hospital. As part of an integrated team, you will work closely with intermediate care and community services.

Main duties of the job
Operate as an autonomous practitioner, managing a varied and often complex caseload, using specialist knowledge of occupational therapy and the functional impact of health conditions to assess, plan, modify, carry out, and evaluate interventions, adapting practice based on client's circumstances and presentation.
Work as part of a multi-professional and/or multi-agency team to deliver a coordinated, person-focused service.
Formulate clinical decisions and recommendations, developing person-centered plans based on assessments, specialist knowledge, and evidence-based guidance and pathways.
Work independently or alongside team members to plan, organize, and deliver therapeutic interventions with individuals or groups across hospital and community settings.
Advise, educate, and demonstrate techniques/strategies to individuals and their families or carers to support ongoing recovery.
Delegate clinical work to support workers and students, following relevant policies and guidelines.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will provide leadership during their rotation, autonomously prioritize caseloads, delegate to junior staff, and complete assessments and reports. They will develop and implement individualized occupational therapy plans, discharge plans, and support community access. Deliver group interventions and mentor OT support workers. Participate in CPD activities and ensure adherence to best practice guidelines.
The post requires current HCPC registration and willingness to travel within Carmarthenshire and possibly wider areas, with options for pool cars and mileage expenses.
Flexibility to work 7-day shifts may be necessary based on activity and demand.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Knowledge
* Degree in Occupational Therapy
* Current HCPC registration
* Knowledge of relevant health and social care legislation
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office
* Understanding of health and social care roles
* Knowledge of rehabilitation interventions and clinical governance
* Experience with outcome measures and therapeutic equipment
* Awareness of services linking primary, secondary, and intermediate care
* Accredited as an Agored Assessor
Experience
* Postgraduate experience across diverse settings and conditions
* Managing complex caseloads independently
* Delegation and supervision of staff
* Experience handling distressing situations, contributing to service development, working with families, and using virtual platforms
Language Skills
* Welsh speaker (Level 1) - desirable
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
This role requires a DBS check due to the nature of the work involving vulnerable groups.
Salary: £37,898 to £45,637 per annum (pro-rata if part-time).
