Position Description
Performs specialized Post Doctoral work in the planning, conducting, and supervision of original research. Responsible for participating in a research project related to Ph.D. studies and interpreting the results for publication. Work is performed under the supervision of graduate faculty members, with evaluation based on the achievement of objectives and project effectiveness. May supervise research and student assistants.
Major/Essential Functions
* Assist in developing plans to test the hypothesis that combining vitamin A supplementation and HDAC inhibition (HDACI) more effectively maintains hippocampal-dependent learning and RAR-sensitive gene transcription in DG than HDACi alone.
* Coordinate and lead the development of analysis tools compatible with future imaging, electrophysiological, and computational experiments.
* Stay informed on new developments, resources, and potential collaborations relevant to the research.
* Utilize confocal microscopy, histological, immunocytochemical, and molecular biological equipment within the group.
* Manage laboratory safety, protocols, organization, and reporting; support undergraduate student scientists.
* Present research findings at laboratory meetings, local research groups, and external professional conferences.
* Process, organize, and visualize data related to the Lawrence Lab research.
Required Qualifications
PhD or equivalent doctorate (e.g., D.Sc., M.D.) in the relevant field.
Knowledge of modern research practices, methods, resources, and standards. Ability to organize work effectively, prioritize objectives, and exercise independent judgment. Capable of integrating resources, policies, and information to determine procedures and solutions. Able to establish effective work relationships and provide supervision and training as needed.
