Manufacturing Services Technician – Tool Maker
Location: Derby; Shift Pattern: 24/6 (12hr shifts) including some weekends; Employment: Permanent, full time; Workplace: Onsite – Derby.
We are looking for a skilled Tool Maker to join our Turbine Blade Facility in Derby. The role involves producing parts from engineering drawings, maintaining critical tooling and fixtures in a fast‑paced production environment, and supporting equipment availability through fault rectification, servicing, supplier engagement and continuous improvement.
What You Will Be Doing
* Perform routine and reactive maintenance on tooling and fixtures across a broad range of manufacturing assets to ensure equipment is safe, available and capable.
* Analyse equipment data to inform and implement the most effective repair, manufacture or modification approach.
* Collect, organise and analyse data to support Key Performance Indicators for the Manufacturing Services Department.
* Work with site Manufacturing Engineers to understand and implement tooling requirements, and work alongside equipment OEM engineers.
* Use problem‑solving skills to make sound recommendations for improvements.
* Liaise with the onsite spares integrator to manage spare inventory with minimal stock levels.
Position Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3 and relevant apprenticeship in a related subject.
* Proficiency with hand gauges, inspection equipment and computerised measuring equipment.
* Ability to read engineering drawings and manufacture components based on them.
* Experience operating manual and CNC machine tools to a high degree, including reverse engineering where drawings are unavailable.
* Experience programming CNC machine tools is preferable.
* Familiarity with CAD/CAM PLM software to design parts and create technical drawings is desirable but not essential.
