Mark Dixon Practice Manager Lorn Medical Centre Soroba Road Oban PA34 4HE
Do you fancy spending a summer on the beautiful west coast of Scotland?
The Lorn Medical Centre has an opportunity for a locum to join our team for the summer of 2026. We are ideally looking for a Locum(s) with availability from mid June to early September and/or October 2026. We are flexible on the number of sessions worked each week.
Oban is the 'Gateway to the Isles' and the 'Seafood Capital of Scotland'. Outdoor adventure is the name of the game here with a wide range of outdoor activities and sports available locally, as well as excellent restaurants, bars and a rich culture and history.
For the duration of your stay, we can also provide accommodation in the town and within walking distance of the Practice, potentially with space to bring your immediate family along, so they too can enjoy summer by the sea and take advantage of all that Oban has to offer during the long daylight hours.
The Lorn Medical Centre has developed an underlying commitment to providing high quality care for our patients and is a previous Quality Practice Award winner from the Royal College of General Practitioners.
The Practice has a very strong training ethos and commits to providing support to both medical and nursing students, as well as post-graduate training. We also support the GP Rural Fellowship Scheme. We are proud that many trainees return to the Practice as salaried or partner GP's.
In 2019, the partnership also took over the running of GP services on the Isles of Mull & Iona, which widened the experience of clinicians and other staff and creates a strong base for the island practice to rely on.
The Practice takes great pride in the standard of care offered and ensuring that this care is patient centric. We believe that the best care is delivered by a Primary Health Care Team and have encouraged the development of Practice, Community and Specialist Nurses and other members of the extended team.
We have an established team of GP's, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses, Advanced Paramedic Practitioner and administrative staff to deliver care to these communities. Oban has a District General Hospital and on Mull, there is a Community Hospital, staffed by a team of nurses, supported by our GP's, some of whom work on the island.
