Commercial Underwriter Opportunity to be part of a National Commercial Underwriting function Receive ongoing training, career progression and personal growth Hybrid 80% homeworking available and 20% from our office in Bristol About the roleWe have an exciting opportunity for a diligent General Insurance professional to join us as a Commercial Underwriter within our SME and Mid-Market Team. You’ll be responsible for handling commercial cases up to £35k premium across Commercial Select, Motor Trade & Farm. The team underwrite all midterm alterations and renewal work for any case within these thresholds. We receive approximately 2500 Mid Term Adjustments per week and aim to complete 80% of these within a 5-day turnaround while maintaining renewal positions. We work closely with our agents to drive the best possible outcomes for our customers quickly and to a high quality. We believe that commercial business presents our biggest growth opportunity over the longer term and this is an opportunity to be an integral part of that growth. Our NFU Mutual agencies are the vital day-to-day link with our customers and, as an Underwriter, you'll build strong relationships and work collaboratively with our Agents, resolving complex referrals and ensuring effective management of the insurance risk cost whilst delivering the right solution and service for our members. We provide a comprehensive induction to the role and to make sure you get the most out of this, you will need to be able to commit to being in the office more frequently for the first 6 months. Following your induction, you will receive ongoing training which will support your career progression and personal growth. Working hours: 35 hours per week, Monday – Friday with shifts between the hours of 8am and 6pm.About youYou’ll be a Commercial Underwriting professional with varied experience of complex and technical cases within a regulated environment including working within Authority. If you have previous exposure to a broad range of Commercial General Insurance products and are a keen learner, we would love to hear from you. You’ll be a resilient individual and able to demonstrate effective communication skills which will enable you to establish strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the business, with the ability and confidence to challenge and influence where necessary.
