ABOUT YOU
We are seeking someone who holds a degree in Chemical Sciences or another relevant scientific discipline and brings hands-on experience working in laboratory and offshore environments. You will have proven experience carrying out Oil-in-Water analysis at offshore installations. You have previously worked as a chemist in a rotational role or have experience covering a rotation chemist position.
Required skills and experience:
1. Degree in chemical sciences or another scientific discipline
2. Experience in carrying out Oil in Water analysis at an offshore installation
3. Knowledge in providing support to a scale squeeze campaign
4. Previous knowledge working as a chemist in a rotation position or covering a rotation chemist position
5. Aware of the hazards associated with online processes, sampling and analysis
6. Analytical and general activities performed in a laboratory under a chemical or another scientific discipline
7. Strong business skills
8. Strong work ethic
9. “Can do”, continuous improvement, safety-conscious approach
10. IT support systems used within the Company which are relevant to the scope of the position
11. Organised and methodical in approach to work
12. Maintains high personal integrity when dealing with all aspects of company business
13. Excellent interpersonal skills - being able to work well with colleagues as part of a team
14. Sound communication skills, both written and oral
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
As a Rotational Offshore Chemist, you’ll play a key role in supporting offshore production by delivering accurate analytical data and ensuring chemical treatments are correctly applied. Your work will help maximise production efficiency, protect vessels and pipework, and minimise environmental impact. Responsibilities will vary by rotation, reflecting the needs of each site and operating company. You’ll work in full compliance with site-specific procedures while consistently upholding Intertek’s best practices for health, safety, and operational integrity.
Key activities:
15. Carry out platform duties as determined by the routine and ad-hoc work requests on the asset, adhering to expected QHSE standards and behaviours
16. Maintain and operate all laboratory equipment as per operating procedures and calibration requirements
17. Ensure compliance with regulatory bodies, as well as with platform procedures and policies
18. Expeditious submission of Intertek trip documentation such as timesheet(s), report(s) and feedback forms
19. Ensure process systems are correctly analysed and treated
20. Ensure adequate stocks of chemicals are maintained.
21. Ensure laboratory equipment calibration certifications are current
22. Operate all laboratory equipment as per the laid down operating practices and procedures
23. Consult daily with the platform Production Supervisor (or equivalent)
24. Co-ordinate and plan with other platform work groups to ensure safe and efficient use of resources with the minimum negative impact on production
25. Maintain records and data inputs to the production management systems (. SAP) and other systems. Analyse data output. Report findings as appropriate
26. Monitor the work environment and maintain good communication with both offshore and onshore
