The Role
This position is part of our Saab Seaeye Business Unit in Fareham. The role provides Production Engineering support for the assembly and testing of remotely operated vehicle sub-systems and production processes. It also ensures that production processes, equipment, and facilities are in place to manufacture products safely, efficiently, and to meet cost, time, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Participate in SQCDP meetings and support problem-solving initiatives with the Area Team Leader and Quality Engineering to achieve on-time delivery and first-time quality objectives.
2. Standardize processes and procedures to ensure consistency, reduce variation, and enhance cross-department collaboration.
3. Own, document, and train others on manufacturing processes and standards.
4. Assess compliance with safety and quality standards.
5. Maintain manufacturing BOMs and Routings.
6. Manage NPI transfer into production; develop and optimize factory layout.
7. Provide technical support for production and control activities.
8. Analyze data to drive continuous improvement of processes and workflows.
Skills and Experience
1. Multidisciplinary engineer with an electrical bias, experienced in testing, pre-commissioning, and fault finding.
2. Background in low-volume, engineered products and systems; suitable for Production, Project, or Delivery Engineers.
3. Strong mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering knowledge, especially for complex assemblies like ROVs.
4. Technical troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve production issues.
5. Minimum qualifications: HNC/HND, Bachelor’s degree, or relevant experience in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.
6. Hands-on experience in assembly, testing, and quality control.
7. Relevant certifications (e.g., Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma Green Belt) are advantageous; familiarity with hydraulics is beneficial. Support and training are available for working with electrics, high voltages, and hydraulics.
