We are looking for a Clinical Fellow to compliment the Ophthalmology Department based at the National Treatment Centre – Highland located at the Inverness Campus. The post is fixed term for 1 year. The successful candidate will join a team of 12 Consultants. In addition, the Ophthalmology Medical Department comprises one Associate Specialist, 2 Specialty Doctors, 3 Ophthalmology residents, and one Glaucoma Clinical Fellow. Current subspecialty interests provided by the department include Glaucoma, Vitreo-retina, Oculoplastics, Paediatrics, Neuro-ophthalmology, Cornea and Medical Retina.
Our unique geography requires innovative development in virtual clinics and telemedicine to meet the clinical need and standardised best quality of care. The unit has three Heidelberg Spectralis OCT scanners, a Kowa and Eidon non-mydriatic camera, Topcon specular microscope, Zeiss Humphrey VF analysers, Reichert ORA and iCare tonometers, Pascal laser, Belkin Direct SLT laser, YAG laser and micropulse and cyclodiode lasers. Outpatient care is via either traditional Consultant-led clinics, Optometrist-led shared care clinics or virtual clinics dependent on patient risk stratification. We have 3 Ophthalmology theatres in the NTC-H.
The Ophthalmology Department in Inverness also provides peripheral services in Orkney, the Western Isles, Wick, and Fort William and we undertake commissioned activity from other Health Boards as set out in the annual delivery plan commissioned by Scottish Government for cataract operating.

Raigmore Hospital is a modern well-equipped district general hospital with approximately 454 beds on the other side of the A9 from NTC-H.
