Job Overview
Permanent role for a Speech and Language Therapist (Band 6) in Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide specialist assessment, diagnosis and treatment for adults with communication, voice and swallowing disorders across community hospitals, outpatient clinics, patients’ homes and care homes.
* Manage and prioritise own clinical workload, seeking guidance from team leads as required.
* Supervise Speech and Language Therapy assistants and newly qualified SLTs.
* Work autonomously within GHC policies and professional practice, maintaining accurate and comprehensive electronic records.
* Participate in service improvement projects and attend relevant training and development.
Qualifications
* Recognised Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists degree level qualification.
* Member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
* Member of the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Essential Experience and Knowledge
* Experience in managing patients with communication and swallowing difficulties following acquired disorders.
* Working collaboratively within multi‑disciplinary teams and with other professionals.
* Ability to identify own professional development needs and develop a professional portfolio.
* Specialist skills in differential diagnosis and targeting of clinical interventions.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Personal Attributes
* Approachable, flexible and good communication skills (written and verbal).
* Prioritise tasks, manage time effectively and work under pressure.
* Engage positively with service users and work effectively as a team member.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
