Job Title: Band 5 Nurse - Urgent Treatment Centre
Having undertaken additional approved training and assessment as part of the role, the post holder will work as part of the assessment and treatment team within Trust guidelines, local policies, and protocols to ensure the best outcomes in nursing care.
1. Assist in the development and implementation of Directorate policy, nursing strategy, and Band 5 Nurse competencies.
2. Act as a resource and facilitator to educate and train other healthcare professionals as required.
3. Contribute positively to the development of the Urgent Treatment and Minor Injuries Service process under the leadership of UTC/MIU Lead Practitioners and Modern Matron.
4. Work independently to assess, diagnose, treat, and discharge patients with conditions within your competencies.
5. Provide education and supervision to colleagues.
6. Administer medication under Patient Group Directives and Trust policies.
7. Maintain knowledge of national, trust, and departmental standards.
8. Promote evidence-based care aligned with national frameworks and guidelines.
9. Contribute to the development of practitioner services and extended scope of practice in other areas.
Applicants without the relevant experience and competencies will be trained to obtain the necessary qualifications.
This position is based at UTC Cumberland, with expectations to work across multiple sites including Derriford UTC, Tavistock, and Kingsbridge MIUs.
Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, 'Priority', and 'At Risk' status staff, including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon, who demonstrate recent relevant experience as per the Person Specification.
