Data Manager – Outstanding Secondary School – St Albans (Hertfordshire) Start Date: As soon as possible Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Paid to scale We are seeking a highly analytical, detail-driven and organised Data Manager to join an Outstanding secondary school in St Albans. This is a key strategic support role within the school, offering an excellent opportunity for an experienced data professional to contribute directly to school improvement, student outcomes and effective decision-making. The successful candidate will take responsibility for the management, analysis and reporting of student data across the school. You will work closely with senior leadership, teaching staff and administrative teams to ensure that data systems are accurate, efficient and used effectively to support teaching and learning. This role requires a high level of technical skill, attention to detail and the ability to present complex information clearly. You will be responsible for maintaining the school’s Management Information System (MIS), producing reports on student progress and performance, and supporting the school’s assessment and tracking processes. As Data Manager, you will play a central role in ensuring that staff have access to reliable and timely data, enabling them to make informed decisions that support student achievement. You will also contribute to the development of data systems and processes, ensuring they remain robust, compliant and fit for purpose. Key Responsibilities: • Manage and maintain the school’s MIS and data systems • Produce and analyse reports on student attainment and progress • Support assessment, tracking and reporting processes • Ensure accuracy and integrity of all school data • Provide data insights to support senior leadership decision-making • Train and support staff in the use of data systems • Ensure compliance with data protection and statutory requirements • Develop and improve data systems and processes • Support exam data and performance analysis • Work collaboratively with staff across the school Requirements: • Experience working with data in an educational or similar setting • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy • Advanced IT skills, including Excel and MIS systems • Ability to present data clearly to a range of audiences • Strong organisational and time management skills • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • Understanding of school data systems (desirable) • Commitment to supporting student achievement and school improvement Application To apply, please send your CV as soon as possible.
