We are seeking a reliable, proactive, and practical Site Assistant to join a busy primary school in Surbiton, starting ASAP. This role is essential for maintaining a safe, clean, and well-organised school environment, supporting both pupils and staff in their day-to-day activities.
The school has a strong community ethos and places high value on teamwork, efficiency, and safety. As a Site Assistant, you will help ensure the school site is secure, functional, and welcoming, allowing teaching and learning to take place without interruption.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain the school premises, including classrooms, corridors, outdoor areas, and communal spaces
* Carry out routine maintenance tasks and minor repairs
* Ensure the school site is secure, including locking and unlocking buildings and monitoring access
* Assist with setting up rooms and equipment for events, assemblies, and activities
* Monitor building and equipment conditions, reporting issues as necessary
* Oversee waste disposal, cleaning supplies, and stock levels
* Support health and safety compliance, including fire drills and emergency procedures
* Assist with deliveries, movement of resources, and site organisation
* Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for staff, pupils, and visitors
* Work collaboratively with school staff and external contractors
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will:
* Have previous experience in site maintenance, caretaking, or a similar facilities role
* Be practical, hands-on, and proactive
* Have good organisational skills and attention to detail
* Be able to work independently and manage time effectively
* Possess basic DIY and maintenance skills
