We are looking to appoint a Technical Tutor in Textiles to deliver in Dyed and Printed textiles/cloth to join our team at Epsom.
The textiles studio is an exciting environment, and the purpose of this position is to support students in their development within this specialism and to the wider students as necessary. Providing technical inductions and demonstrations on equipment and processes, you will support students to understand, develop and push the creative possibilities of such processes in dyed and printed textiles, with a focus on sustainability.
The successful applicant will have knowledge, practice and experience in dyeing and printing processes, equipment and procedures associated with dyed/printed textiles/cloth. This includes the preparation of textile recipes, including the application and use of a range of fundamental and specialist analogue dye/print processes. Knowledge of dyeing, fibres, recipes and the practice of these techniques along with preparation and finishing of cloth is essential. The ability to carry out screen printing processes for printed textiles including screen preparation, exposing screens, screen registration and printing techniques is also essential.
You will contribute to the care and day-to-day operation of the textiles studios including the management and maintenance of specialist equipment and ensuring that the safety of our learners is always maintained.
The post holder will have a competent knowledge and understanding of the H&S hazards associated with dyed/printed textiles equipment and processes; those related to chemical handling and storage and the maintenance of specialist equipment.
You will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to problem solve and apply initiative. Whilst working under pressure, you will be able to demonstrate a positive and flexible approach when working with students and staff. The ability to work as part of a team is essential.
Actual salary for this part time role is £18,741 -£20,766 per annum.
